Enrollment:
- Individuals must be at least 16 years of age for eligibility in adult education programs within the state of
Utah
- Student must have at least 12 contact hours in the same fiscal year to be considered an enrollee of the
Arches Education Center
- Students must have a Student Education Occupation plan (SEOP), developed via contact with the
Director of the Arches Education Center
- Students must take the proper assessments (TABE, BEST) to be considered an enrollee of the Arches
Education Center.

ABE
Adult Basic Education program; instruction designed for native English-speaking adults who
(1) have minimal competence and basic skills in reading, writing, speaking, problem solving,
or computation (2) are not sufficiently competent to meet the educational requirements of
adult life in the United States; or (3) are not sufficiently competent in speaking, reading, or
writing the English language to allow satisfactory employment opportunities.
AHSC
Adult High School Completion program; instruction below collegiate level for adults who (1)
have basic skills and competence levels in reading, writing, speaking, problem solving and
computation; and (2) may or may not have a certificate of graduation (or its equivalent) from
a school providing secondary education.
ESOL
English for Speakers of Other Languages programs; instruction designed for individuals
who (1) were NOT born in the United States or whose native language is a language other
than English; (2) come from environments where a language other than English is dominant;
or (3) are American Indian or Alaska Natives and who come from an environment where a
language other than English has had a significant impact on their level of English languages
proficiency; and (4) who, by reason thereof, have sufficient difficulty speaking, reading,
writing or understanding the English language to deny these individuals the opportunity to
learn successfully in classrooms where the language of instruction is English, or to
participate fully in our society.
GED Prep.
Academic instruction provided to individuals who are interested in taking the GED Test.
