Value of the Utah High School Completion Diploma
 
1. As of July 1, 2009, a Utah GED examinee passing the GED Tests at Utah standards receives a “Utah High School
Completion Diploma.” Prior to July 1, 2009, a person passing Utah GED Tests received a “General Educational
Development Certificate.” The “market value” remains the same. The GED credential is widely accepted by post-
secondary institutions and employers.

2. Prior to July 1, 2009, persons passing the GED Tests could receive a maximum of five (5) units of credit toward an
Adult Education Secondary Diploma. This practice ceased as of July 1, 2009.

3. Persons who passed the GED Tests in Utah between January 1, 2002 and June 30, 2009, may exchange their GED
Certificate for a Utah High School Completion Diploma by completing and following the instructions on the exchange
form.

4. The cost to exchange a GED Certificate for a Utah High School Completion Diploma is $15.00 Please use the
Exchange Form for “GED® Certificate” to “Utah High School Completion Diploma”.

Part 3 - Testing Center is Open Monday through Friday

If you are taking a partial  exam (you have already passed some of the tests)  come 15 minutes before the start of the
exam you want to take

  • -Contact the USU Moab Center at (435-259-7432) about tests you plan to take and the date you want to test.
    Alternative dates are available.

Part 4 - Paying fees (Required Before the Exam – NO Exceptions)

The cost for the  GED Tests is $66 (non-refundable).  This is a one-time testing fee, unless you fail to show up for a
scheduled exam ($15 rescheduling fee).


Payments are taken at the Utah State University-Moab Center. Payment should be made out to:  Utah State University
(We only accept cash, personal check, or cashier check)









Part 5 - Day of Exam

(Be there 15 minutes before the examination begins)

MUST bring the following to your test

a. Proof of registration from
GED123.org                                  
(no substitutes --  no Exceptions)

b. The receipt showing you have paid for the examinations   
(no Exceptions)

c. You MUST bring current Utah photo identification.                        
(must be current --no Exceptions)

  • drivers license
  • passport
  • military papers
  • DMV ID card
  • other forms of government issued identification that shows name, address, and date of birth, signature, and a
    photograph.


d.  What should I NOT bring to the testing session?
Cell phones, pagers, portable music players, hand-held electronic games, cameras, calculators, pens/pencils and
items not allowed at the tester's seat.

Part 7 - Scores

Official GED Test scores are available on line at  GED123.org. Use the access code you are given after taking the first
test. After you have passed the entire battery of tests, an Official GED Diploma will be mailed to you within two weeks.  
Make sure you have your correct spelling of your name, and correct address listed.  We cannot mail your scores to an
incorrect or incomplete address.



  • ONLINE GED TESTING
There is NO online GED testing for the official GED® Tests.  The expensive GED tests and diplomas from so-called
online high schools are fake.

  • MILITARY RECRUITING AND GED TESTING
Be sure that you talk thoroughly with your military recruiter before you choose to take GED Tests for military entry.  
There may be some issues that may affect you unless you know all aspects about GED Tests and the military.

Preparing for the GED Tests
It is highly recommended you begin with the
services provided by the Arches Education
Center (AEC).

The AEC offers assistance in preparing for the
GED Tests, practice materials, individualized and
personalized instruction.  AEC is open Monday
through Friday  8a.m. to 8p.m. during the school
year.  

A fee of $1 per session is charged.  We ask that
each individual purchase a $10 "punch car" which
will be good for 10 sessions ($100 tuition cap per
year).

  • Click: Begin

  1. You will need an email address and
    password to register. You cannot register
    without an email account.
  2. Complete the form
  3. Confirmation message will be sent to your
    email address.  Follow the directions on
    the email  and complete the survey.  You
    will receive a  name and access code.
  4. Print out the confirmation form – you will
    need to bring this form when you take the
    GED Tests.
  5. Call the USU Moab testing center and
    schedule your exam (435) 259-7432.
